Have you ever noticed what beauty appears when you stop controlling and start surrendering? I paint mixed-media abstracts, and the process still feels like magic. I never know what the abstract will become — I just surrender to the flow and watch something unexpected take shape. From that beautiful chaos, I paint a woman into the abstract. And every time, I feel the urge to cover up the mess — to perfect her, smooth her skin, sharpen her eyes — simply because I can. But I stop myself. Perfection is not the assignment. Somewhere along the way, we started believing perfection creates connection… but it actually creates distance. Vulnerability is what brings us close. INTO ME SEE. Our “mess” is our message — the honesty that makes us human and the bravery that truly connects us. If I cover her cracks and erase her backstory, I lose the very things that make her relatable. Her rawness, her imperfections, her healing — that is where her truth lives. And yes… it’s uncomfortable to let people see the places we’re still healing, the parts we’re not proud of, the pieces that feel unfinished. But here’s what I know: We are all becoming. A work in progress and a masterpiece — at the same time. We need less judgment — when we see others and when we look in our own mirror. We need the eyes of Jesus Christ, who sees every individual's divine nature long before we are “finished.” When you look at yourself and others, what do you see? I was searching for who I am as an artist. I struggled and toiled through this piece breaking through to really begin to discover my place in art. I talk to so many women who are trying to discover who they are and what they want to do. Young kids to teens to adults are told what to be by messages on social media and the world. To those of you who don't yet know who you are and what you have to offer the world...it's already inside of you and waiting to be discovered! To those of you who do know...never forget because you are a powerful light to others...
