Ever notice that God never throws away broken things?

Today, if we break a bowl, most of us would throw it away without thinking twice. But over 500 years ago in Japan, they treasured their vessels. When a beloved tea bowl was returned to the shogun repaired with ugly metal staples, he asked his craftsmen to find a better way.

What they created became known as kintsugi—a beautiful Japanese art form where broken pottery is restored with precious metals. Instead of hiding the cracks, they became part of the story.

I can't help but think of Jesus every time I see it.

He already knew we would all fall. He knew life would leave cracks we never expected. He knew other people would wound us, and that we would wound ourselves. That's why He never asks us to gather the pieces before coming to Him. He simply asks us to come.

Maybe the hardest part is letting our hearts be fully seen. We stop pretending we're whole and, with humility, pour out the innermost longings of our hearts, holding nothing back. It is only when we find ourselves empty that there is room for Him to pour His healing into every shattered space, patiently binding us back together again. Somehow, the places that once felt beyond repair become the very places where His grace shines the brightest.

Before long, the heart He has restored begins overflowing with His love, and somehow that love finds its way pouring into the lives of others.
